HAP Medicare Advantage dental coverage with Delta Dental

Medicare Advantage dental

As a member with a HAP Medicare Advantage HMO¹, HMO-POS¹ and PPO² plans, the following preventive dental services are covered per year:

two dental exams
two cleanings
two fluoride treatments
one brush biopsy
a set of bitewing x-rays

Coverage for comprehensive services such as root canals, fillings, simple extractions and crown repairs is also covered.

You have access to Delta Dental’s Medicare Advantage PPO™ and Medicare Advantage Premier networks. You may also be eligible for coverage when traveling outside of Michigan. Call the customer service number on the back of your HAP insurance card April 1 through Sept. 30: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 1 through March 31: seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to learn more.

¹HAP Medicare Advantage HMO and HMO-POS Plans: Services received from a nonparticipating dentist are not covered. You will be responsible for the full cost of the services.

²HAP Medicare Advantage PPO Plans: Services received from a nonparticipating dentist may result in higher out-of-pocket costs. You will be responsible for the difference between Delta Dental’s payment and the amount charged by the nonparticipating dentist.

Medicare Supplement dental/vision packages

You have three great options for additional dental/vision coverage – MS50, MS70 and MS100. Our dental/vision buy-up packages includes one vision exam and $175 allowance for vision hardware such as contact lenses, frames or glasses. If you didn’t purchase this buy-up package but would like to, you can add it within 30 days of your effective plan date by calling customer service.

If you purchased this buy-up package you will receive a separate ID card from Delta Dental and EyeMed in the coming weeks.

Health Alliance Plan (HAP) has HMO, HMO-POS, PPO plans with Medicare contracts. HAP Medicare Complete Duals (HMO D-SNP) is a Medicare health plan with a Medicare contract and a contract with the Michigan Medicaid Program. Enrollment depends on contract renewals.
