There is hope in beating the powerful addiction of nicotine, and you don't have to go through the struggle of quitting alone. HAP has many resources to help our members quit.
One of those resources includes the Freedom from Smoking class by Henry Ford Health System’s Tobacco Treatment Services. The seven-week program is facilitated by one of Henry Ford’s trained tobacco cessation experts, and its goal is to make giving up tobacco easier. Participants will prepare for a group “quit day” as they learn about:
Preparing to quit
Medications that can help smokers stop smoking
Overcoming cravings, managing stress and avoiding weight gain
How to stay smoke-free for good
The next Freedom from Smoking class starts Oct. 4 at the Henry Ford OptimEyes Super Vision Center in Troy.
- During the seven-week session, there will be eight meetings.
- Classes are 5-7 p.m. on Tuesdays, plus one meeting on a Thursday.
- The program is open to the public at a reduced rate of $100 per seven-week session.
HAP HMO members and HFHS employees do not pay the class instructional charge, but they do pay a $20 fee for class materials.
